DO3 SQUAD - BIKE TRAINING SESSIONS

Do3 Coaching Bike Training Sessions

At Do3 our aim is to prepare athletes so that they can arrive on race-day fully armed with the skills needed to have a great race. A triathlete's or duathlete's bike training should not only include the obvious fitness elements but also, and arguably more importantly, the technical side of things too. 

Our weekly bike sessions are conducted on a safe, closed bike track enabling athletes to fully focus on getting the most out of the session without the hazards associated with training on the open road. 

The bike session content varies from week to week but will usually include an element of fitness training as well as some focused work on the technical elements including:

  • Transitions
  • Mounts and dismounts (static and moving)
  • Bike handling skills including
    • Cornering
    • Braking
    • Gear changing
    • Eating/drinking on the move
    • Group riding
    • Drafting
  • Emergency maintenance such as 
    • Punctures and other tyre issues
    • Dealing with mechanical failures
  • Race Rules 

Athlete numbers during the bike sessions are limited to ensure that everyone has plenty of room and gets a quality session. Over time the coach will get to know YOU, your ability and your needs so you will be trained and ready come race-day!

Who are these sessions aimed at?

These are adult sessions and aimed at those who are looking to improve their triathlon and duathlon performances. Provided you can ride a bike you should be absolutely fine! We have a wide range of abilities attending from newbie through to elite/pro level. 

 

What kit do you need?

  1. Bike - Roadworthy and ideally the one you intend on racing on
  2. Puncture repair kit and anything else you may need on race day
  3. Helmet - In good condition
  4. Suitable bike clothing and shoes - It can get cold so bring layers
  5. Food and drink  (for eating and practicing with!)

 

Squad or Club?

Do3 is not a club and is not designed to replace any existing local clubs or club sessions. Our squad sessions are for those who wish to improve or supplement their existing level of training. Having said that, being a member of a limited-numbers squad will make you feel part of a team and with that will come motivation and camaraderie :)

 

The Venue

Tudor Grange Track is a purpose built cycle track. Its is approximately half a mile around the circuit and is free from traffic. It is a public track but during coached sessions Do3 have sole use.

The Cost?

Bike sessions cost £7.50 when purchased as a block of 10 or £10 for single sessions and trials.
